Specialized Testing

  • CellSearch® Circulating Tumor Cell (CTC)
    • Metastatic colorectal cancer surveillance
  • PathVysion®
    • HER-2/neu status assessment is now considered standard of care in the selection of therapy for metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal cancer.
    • PathVysion® FISH testing offers the most accurate, reliable HER-2/neu results, enabling physicians to make appropriate treatment decisions that can improve clinical benefit and extend patient survival.
  • Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)
    • Detection of EGFR expression in metastatic colorectal cancer to aid in the identification of patients eligible for treatment with cetuximab (Erbitux) or panitumumab (Vectibix).

Biomarker Analysis

  • Barrett’s BioStrat® Assay
    • A molecular-based assay that provides valuable clinical indication of Barrett's associated neoplasia that is more specific than conventional surveillance methods alone. The assay consists of directly labeled fluorescent DNA probes that can be applied to esophageal cytology brushing specimens or formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded esophageal tissue specimens collected during endoscopy.
    • Provides information on DNA alterations relating to the detection of Barrett's associated neoplasia and the differentiation of low-grade dysplasia from high-grade dysplasia/adenocarcinoma.
  • Colorectal BioStrat® Assay
    • A molecular-based assay that provides quantitative information on chromosome copy number alterations relating to the detection of active and/or potential colorectal neoplasia and the differentiation of adenoma from adenocarcinoma. The assay consists of directly labeled fluorescent DNA probes that can be applied to formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded colorectal polyps/tissue specimens.
    • The assay result along with other standard diagnostic procedures can aid informed decisions regarding the surveillance and management of colorectal polyps.
